Today’s podcast covers the critical CPI report coming out on Tuesday morning. Last month, the weaker-than-expected report sent lower bond yields and mortgage rates, so it will be interesting to see the market reaction tomorrow.
With inflation data, 12 months from now, it will look a lot different as sustaining such high levels of Core CPI would need shelter inflation to stay firm. CPI Shelter inflation lags badly, so while the CPI shelter numbers remain firm, the more real-time data is already slowing down.
