Podcast: Is It Labor Or Inflation Data Driving Mortgage Rates?

Today’s podcast covers an important topic: the labor data or the inflation data driving rates this year. Of course, I have had a firm view on this for some time, and the 10-year yield breaking below my critical level is based on the labor data getting weaker than the inflation data.

For those who actively follow my work, you know that I brought Gandalf from Lord of the Rings to claim that the 10-year yield won’t break this critical level until jobless claims weaken. Well, that level was tested a lot more than I would have thought, but for what it’s worth, “You Shall Not Pass” has worked well this year.
